What PsychDesk is
PsychDesk is practice management software for therapists, psychologists, counsellors and mental health clinics in India.
It keeps the running of your practice in one place: your services and fees, your calendar and bookings, client records, session notes, worksheets, invoices and payments. Instead of moving between WhatsApp, a paper diary, a spreadsheet and a separate invoicing tool, you work from a single dashboard.
What it is for
PsychDesk takes the administrative work of a practice off your plate so more of your time goes to clients.
In practical terms, it helps you:
- Let clients book sessions against your real availability, without back-and-forth messages.
- Keep each client's details, session history and notes together.
- Write and store therapy notes in a consistent format.
- Raise invoices and see at a glance who has paid and who has not.
- Keep track of follow-ups so nothing a client is waiting on gets missed.
- See how your practice is doing: sessions completed, income, payments collected.
PsychDesk is a tool for running your practice. It does not make clinical decisions, and it is not an emergency or crisis service for clients.
Who these guides are for
These guides are written for the practitioner using PsychDesk day to day. You do not need any technical background. If you can use online banking or a calendar app, you can follow every guide here.
How these guides are organised
There is one guide for each section in the left-hand menu of your PsychDesk dashboard. The guide names match the menu names, so whatever you see on screen, you can find the guide with the same title.
| Menu section | What the guide covers |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Reading your home screen: today's sessions, income, unpaid invoices and quick actions. See the Dashboard guide |
| Settings | Your profile, professional details, policy documents, availability, bank details and clinic profile |
| Services | The types of session you offer, what you charge, and your public booking page |
| Calendar | Your sessions by day, week, month or year; joining and sharing sessions. See the Calendar guide |
| Bookings | Creating, rescheduling and cancelling sessions |
| Clients | Adding clients and working with each client's full record. See the Clients guide |
| Therapy Writing | Writing session notes from clinical templates and filing them by client. See the Therapy Writing guide |
| Therapy Worksheet | A library of worksheets and assessments to customize and save for clients. See the Therapy Worksheet guide |
| Billings | Invoices, payments and withdrawals. See the Billings guide |
| Follow Up | Your to-do list of client follow-ups, with priorities and due dates. See the Follow Up guide |
| Reports & Analytics | Income, sessions, services and payment collection over time. See the Reports & Analytics guide |
| Upgrade | Plans, prices, and what each includes. See the Upgrade guide |
| Invite & Earn | Referring other therapists for ₹500 billing credit each. See the Invite & Earn guide |
The order to set things up
If you are new, work through the guides in this order. Each step depends on the one before it.
- 1Quick Setup. Start with the Quick Setup guide. It covers your profile, documents, availability, bank details and first service, and ends with a live booking page.
- 2Services. The Services guide covers adding, editing and sharing services, and selling sessions as packages.
- 3Clients. Add your first client.
- 4Bookings. The Bookings guide covers reading your session list and booking a session for a client.
- 5Therapy Writing. Write a note after the session.
- 6Billings. Raise the invoice and record the payment.
Follow Up, Therapy Worksheet, and Reports & Analytics can wait until the basics are running.
How each guide is laid out
Every guide follows the same six parts, so you always know where to look:
- 1What this does for you. A short explanation in practice terms.
- 2Before you start. What to have ready.
- 3Set it up. Numbered steps, with a picture wherever the screen changes.
- 4Check it worked. A quick test you can do yourself.
- 5Common problems. What usually goes wrong, and the fix.
- 6What to set up next. A link to the next guide.
Names of buttons and menu items are shown in bold, exactly as they appear on screen.
Good to know before you begin
- Try it with a test client first. Add yourself or a colleague as a client and run one full cycle, from booking to invoice, before you use PsychDesk with real clients.
- Client information is sensitive. Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, do not share your login, and sign out on shared computers.
- Your plan affects what you see. Some features are available only on higher plans. Where a guide covers one of these, it says so at the top.
- The pictures may differ slightly. PsychDesk is updated regularly, so a button may move or be renamed. The steps still apply; if something is missing entirely, contact support.
- You do not have to set up everything. Use the sections your practice needs and leave the rest.
Getting help
If you are stuck on a step, contact PsychDesk support and mention which guide and step number you were on. It gets you an answer much faster.
